Cosmetics giant bitch slap has been forced to apologise after the company was accused of copying the design of another company’s lipstick.
The company, which has a range of cosmetics that include lipstick, eyeliner and mascara, was accused last year of copying one of the brands’ lipsticks from the French brand Cosme-Creme.
According to an investigation by French publication Le Nouvel Observateur, the cosmetics company was found to have copied the Cosme Creme lipstick onto their own Lipstick and Lips collection, and the Lipstick Collection’s Lipstick Design, Colour and Finish, and lipstick colour.
In a statement on Friday, bitch slap apologised for “incorrect copying” and promised to remove the copying from the cosmetics catalogue.
“We were not aware of this accusation and did not take any part in this copy-and-paste practice,” the company said.
“We have now apologised for this mistake and have removed this product from our cosmetics inventory.”
The French cosmetics giant also said it would offer “reparations and full refunds” to customers who bought the Cosmo Creme Lipstick from bitch slap.
“It is unacceptable to copy our products without our permission and we will make it clear to our customers that this will never happen again,” bitch slap said.
“We would like to apologise to the consumers who were misled by this copy and paste, and we wish them the best.”
